Caroline Axellie’s hand-stitched textile works — the foundation for everything that follows.

Each wall hanging is constructed using appliqué and patchwork from linen, cotton, Alcantara, and horsehair. The shapes were cut by hand and sewn on in layers, until both image and relief emerged. Each piece took weeks and months to shape.

The motifs are drawn from Old Norse history and nature — troops, crews, flocks. Rarely a lone figure, almost always many heading in the same direction.

The originals are unique. No more will be made. Here they are available as signed prints.
